Yesterday I went to see ‘Crazy Stupid Love’. It was the perfect blend of funny, sweet and sexy that you would expect.
It tells the story of Cal, whose wife tells him at dinner that she wants a divorce. Devastated he goes to drown his sorrows at the local bar, where he meets Jacob, a professional ladies man. Jacob takes Cal under his wing, transforming him into smart, fashionable...

Everything I know, I'm learning from TV: 19th-23rd...
This week the return of our favourite shows continued, here’s what we learned:
Modern Family:
This week we learned that no matter how you think your first kiss is going to go, it will never happen like that. There are just some things you can’t plan.
Luke taught us that blowing up stuff is really cool.
The Vampire Diaries
Stefan taught us that sometimes, in order to...

Everything I know, I'm learning from TV: 13th -...
This week saw the beginning of the new television season and as always there were a lot of lessons to be learned.
‘90210’
90210 taught us this week that it doesn’t matter how much your teenage boyfriend protests the contrary, he will always be happy when the nurse says you’re not pregnant.
We learned that having your boyfriend’s 17 year old sister move in...

The Glee Project
‘The Glee Project’ finished this week and I’ve got to say I loved it. It was so different to the usual reality shows like ‘X Factor’ and ‘American Idol’, because they were actually casting for the show. More than that, though, it made me want to work on ’Glee’ more than ever. I mean how could you ever be sad working on a show like that? Yes, I...

Happy Roald Dahl Day!

A note about 'The Carrie Diaries'
I recently read The Carrie Diaries, the young adult prequel to the fabulous Sex and the City. The book follows Carrie’s adventures through high school and there has been a lot of talk on the interweb about it being adapted for TV or film. People have been speculating over who would play the younger Carrie (Elizabeth Olsen?), Samantha (Blake Lively?), Charlotte (Selena Gomez?) and Miranda...

So Mrs Ari’s name is Melissa. Who’d have thunk it?
I liked the casual way they just slipped it in there, like it wasn’t a big deal, when it really was. I also loved Ari’s face when he said it, as if it was the biggest insult ever to call his wife by her first name. Is this really the end for the Golds?

Last Labor Day
I was in Los Angeles. We decided to spend the day at the beach, topping up our tan and frolicking on the sand like something out of ‘90210’, before we returned to rainy England:
But it was cloudy and cold. Definitely not like the movies.
Some crazy people went swimming.
We pretended we were on ‘The OC’ and sat next to a lifeguard tower, mourning the sun.
I...

Lost in My Life (Fruit Stickers)
When I was younger I would cover my lunch box with fruit stickers. It wasn’t as colourful as this (Granny Smith apples and the occasional banana being the extent of my childhood fruit consumption), but it was obviously just as cool.
This also reminds me of a piece I saw at the MoMa last year. It was ‘One Year’ by George Maciunas and was a display of various containers of...

Thoughts on not going back to university
I don’t have a legitimate reason to buy funky stationary. No longer can I justify pencil cases that look like crisp packets or fluffy animals and a plethora of scented gel pens. Of course, there is the whole ‘I’m a writer’ reason, but somehow it just doesn’t feel as right..
Some friends now live a million miles away. I don’t like it.
Other friends are back...
